Service
  • Supporting women and their children who have experienced domestic abuse. This can be physical, emotional, mental, financial, or sexual.
  • The organisation provides a holistic range of services which includes: refuge accommodation including diabled access, children's project worker, outreach service, support groups, resttlement, emotional support, support with legal advice, housing advice, young person's advisor.
  • The organisation is based in Stafford but has a sister project in Cannock.
  • A support group for women meets at the centre each Friday during term time.
  • The Refuge - provides a safe place for up to 8 families to live. Each family will have a separate bedroom but will share a bathroom and a kitchen. Each family will be assigned a key worker who will provide support and advice on practical and emotional issues arising from the circumstances the family have been coping with.   • The Children's Project - provides a service for children, both in the refuge and in the outreach resource centre, who have suffered due to the domestic violence/abuse they have lived through.
  • The Outreach Project - provides support for women who may not necessarily wish to access refuge accommodation but who still require help and advice about the situation they are living in. Support can be offered with planning to leave an abusive relationship, legal issues, housing, benefits, workshops run at the centre to build confidence and address problems encountered due to domestic abuse. We offer one to one sessions and hold group support sessions weekly. We can arrange counselling if appropriate. Main Contact: Annette Atherton - Outreach Centre Manager: 01785 607828.   • The Resettlement & Floating Support Project - provides help in finding somewhere safe to live, longer term support in managing your home and addressing any housing needs, advise on your rights and responsibilities as a tenant. Tel: 01785 607828
  • Young Persons Advisor - provides advice and support for young people aged 13-19 years.
  • This can range from emotional support due to the effects of domestic violence in the home to advice about school problems, career choices and future options. Tel: 01785 600647
  • The Cannock Project - is currently managed by Stafford Women's Aid to give women and children in the Cannock area a safe place to go to discuss options available to them after suffering domestic abuse. Tel: 01543 468880

  • NEW Help Line number: 0870 2700 123
  • As from the weekend of 9th December 2006, Stafford Women's Aid will be changing its Help Line operations.
  • Instead of calls coming through Stafford Samaritans, we will have one single Help Line number. Any referrals can be made through this number. This is a public number and can be given out to agencies and women. We will be available on this number 24 hours a day, overnight and at weekends.
